An eVisa lets an eligible visitor complete the visa application process before traveling. It is useful if you prefer to review your visa details in advance. Approval and admission remain decisions for the Kuwaiti authorities.

Visa on arrival at Kuwait International Airport

The Hungarian Embassy confirms that Hungarian short-stay visitors may seek a visa on arrival as an alternative to an eVisa. The airport route involves its own checks and may involve waiting. Check your airline's document requirements for the booked itinerary before relying on this option, especially if you have a connecting journey.

Business, family and official visits

Kuwait lists business, family and government visit categories separately from tourism. A business visit can require a request from a local company; a family visit can involve a resident family member. Select the category that matches your actual purpose instead of assuming that a tourist eVisa covers every short trip.

Employment, study, residence and medical visits

Kuwait also has purpose-specific immigration procedures for work, study, family joining and medical visits. Entry permission and subsequent residence permission are distinct. For these purposes, consult your employer, educational institution, sponsor or the competent Kuwaiti authority. Our tourist eVisa guidance does not establish eligibility for those routes.

If your journey only connects through Kuwait, establish whether you will cross immigration. Collecting checked baggage or arranging a separate onward flight can change the practical requirements. Confirm the arrangements with your carrier and the authorities for your itinerary.

Special passport and residence situations

Diplomatic and service passports

The Hungary–Kuwait agreement provides a visa exemption for specified Hungarian diplomatic and service passport holders for visits of up to 90 days in a 180-day period. Accredited diplomatic or consular staff and household family members have a separate advance-visa provision. The agreement also preserves entry restrictions and suspension powers. Confirm its application to your assignment with the relevant authority. It does not exempt ordinary Hungarian passports.

Hungarian citizens living in a GCC country

A Hungarian citizen living in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain or Oman should distinguish eligibility based on Hungarian nationality from any route based on GCC residence. A residence permit does not make its holder a GCC citizen. If you apply under a residence-based route, its document and profession conditions must be checked separately.

Other travel documents or existing Kuwait residence

Tell us if you will use an emergency passport, refugee travel document or a passport of another nationality. Also explain if you already hold Kuwait residence. Those circumstances require a separate assessment; residence in Hungary or possession of a US, UK or Schengen document should not be substituted for checking the passport and route actually used.

Documents to prepare for a Kuwait tourist eVisa

Prepare a passport copy, recent facial photograph, confirmed travel ticket and hotel reservation. Kuwait's tourist instructions require passport validity of at least six months from entry. Check that the passport you submit is the one you intend to present when traveling.

Entry validity, permitted stay and single entry

Kuwait's published tourist instructions distinguish a 30-day entry-permit window from a stay of up to 90 days after entry, with single entry and no employment permitted. Those general limits do not replace a shorter condition on your own visa. Check the entry deadline and stay authorization separately before booking your departure.

A single-entry permission is for one admission. If your itinerary includes leaving Kuwait and returning, check the authorization needed for the return journey rather than relying on unused days from the first visit.

Can Hungarian visitors extend a Kuwait visa or stay?

An extension of the deadline to use a visa and an extension of time already spent in Kuwait are different requests. Kuwait Government Online lists a temporary-residence or visit-extension procedure involving a sponsor; that listing does not establish an automatic extension for every tourist eVisa.

If you need longer, ask the Kuwaiti authorities whether your particular visa and circumstances qualify, and obtain instructions before your authorized stay ends. Plan to depart within the permission already granted unless an extension is formally approved. A pending enquiry is not an extension.

The official temporary-residence information is a starting point for checking the relevant procedure, rather than a promise that it applies to your tourist visit.

Prepare for arrival in Kuwait

Keep your original passport and, if traveling on an eVisa, the approved visa accessible. Check their consistency and validity. Keep the accommodation and travel documents used in your application available as supporting records.

Where eligibility relies on residence or another document, confirm which originals must accompany you. Check any health, insurance or carrier conditions applicable to your route and travel date. This preparation list is not a complete statement of every route-specific border requirement.
