Difference between Tourist visa and Visit visa in Kuwait

Kuwait Visiting Visas and Kuwait Tourist eVisas

Getting a visa is a prerequisite for most foreigners when planning a trip to Kuwait, with exceptions for citizens from visa-free countries like Oman and the USA. Kuwait provides short-term visas for transit, tourism, and family visits, allowing foreigners to stay briefly.

Both tourist and visiting visas enable foreigners to stay temporarily in Kuwait, but there are critical distinctions between them.

Understanding Kuwait Tourist eVisas

A Kuwait tourist visa serves as a legal travel permit for foreign tourists looking to explore the Gulf country for a short duration, allowing a stay of up to 90 days. The visa necessitates entry into the country within 30 days of issuance.

Kuwait Tourist eVisa Application Process

Travelers from visa-required countries can apply for a Kuwait tourist visa online on the Kuwait Immigration Services webpage. Those from eligible countries can also obtain a tourist visa upon arrival at Kuwait's international airports.

Unlike the visiting visa, tourists can personally apply for a Kuwait tourist visa. Eligible applicants can opt for an electronic tourist visa by completing an online form and providing details such as nationality, purpose of visit, intended duration, and passport information. Upon approval, they receive an eVisa via email, which can be presented upon entry.

Citizens from over 50 foreign nations, including the USA, Canada, and the UK, are eligible for Kuwaiti e-Visas. Those who are ineligible must apply through the Kuwaiti consular mission.

The tourist visa fee may vary depending on the applicant's country and the embassy, so it's advisable to check with the Kuwait Embassy for the most current fees. A Kuwait tourist visa is valid for 30 days, and once in Kuwait, travelers can stay for up to 90 days.

Understanding Kuwait Visiting Visas

A Kuwaiti visiting visa is granted to family members and other visitors as an entry permit. It requires a supporting letter from a sponsor in Kuwait, who can be a family member, a Kuwaiti citizen, or a registered company.

Kuwait Visiting Visa Application Process

Applicants for a visiting visa must approach the Kuwait embassy and submit passports, photographs, completed application forms, and other required documents. A letter from the sponsor, along with their passport and relevant documents, is also mandatory. The visiting visa, usually processed within two business days, is stamped on the passport upon arrival at a Kuwaiti international airport.

The validity of a Kuwaiti visiting visa is 90 days, allowing a stay of 30 days. It is extendable, and for an extension, visitors must exit to a neighboring country and re-enter Kuwait—additionally, the government issues multiple-entry visiting visas to foreign businesspersons, valid for 12 months.

Kuwait Visiting Visa or Tourist Visa For Your Trip

A Kuwaiti visiting visa permits a 30-day stay within a 90-day validity period, catering to various purposes like business, medical treatment, and family visits. Holders can explore job opportunities, potentially converting the visa to a work visa.

In contrast, a Kuwait tourist eVisa allows a 90-day stay without a sponsor letter. It is more convenient for tourism-related activities but is restricted to non-business and non-family pursuits.

In summary, while both visas facilitate short-term stays in Kuwait, the tourist visa is suitable for general tourism. In contrast, the visiting visa accommodates various purposes and even provides avenues for job exploration.
